Shirley Temple and a Penguin

My favorite Halloween Picture!

I worked on sewing Victoria's dress all this last week. I put some different patterns together based on this movie:
Now I know that I definately need to take a sewing class. It turned out but it was alot of work.

And... she won the costume contest at school!

Joshua was a reluctant but adorable penguin.

He wanted to be a Skunk (He loves to laugh at smelly things) but the costume size only goes up to 4t and then starts with adult sizes. So next year I think I'll be making a skunk costume.

He has a stuffed animal penguin that he is quite attached too and seems to be his favorite animal so a penguin seemed like a good second choice.

Plus his Aunty Jenny dressed up like a penguin too.

Reading

I have decided to try and take the kids to the library every Monday or at least once a week. I would like to check out some books myself, but yesterday I was just trying to get the hang of watching the kids while trying to find some non-fiction and fiction books for them to read. It was a challenge, but I left with books about:

Sheep: Victoria loves sheep. However I tried to read very quickly or skip over the parts on how we eat them. I don't think she's ready for that yet.

Smelly Skunks: For Joshua's entertainment. He loves laughing about thing that are gross, as she did last night about this book...uncontrollably.

I can draw people: Because Victoria loves to draw. Still trying really hard to work on her pincher grasp though. Maybe a reward system would be helpful.

The Berenstain Bears' BIG Bedtime Book: Just for Fun and it sure was last night. Joshua and Victoria couldn't stop laughing about the story of "The Three Little Cubs and the Big Bad Pig".

I have yet to read these:

The Berenstain Bears Sick Days: Just for fun

Jesus Loves Me: To reinforce their knowledge of Christ.

What Happens When Food Cooks?: I thought it would be interesting to read this to the kids.
The Reasons For Seasons: Now that it's Fall, I thought they might absorb some of this.
In addition to the books checked out from the library I bought a new kid's bible from Sattleback Church on Sunday called " the Jesus Storybook Bible". I like it allot last night we read about Adam and Eve and Noah also. The night before that was about creation. I like how it mentions Jesus in each story.

Our journey so far (In short)

Our family has been shaped by the grace of God through our ups and downs. Our story does not begin here, but I thought it's a pretty good idea to start it. We strive to be constantly changing and moving forward. There is always more to learn...
